Oh No, You Just Didn’t Ask Me That?

by admin on May 11, 2011

I decided that this is the best time for me to share with you some of the more interesting questions I’ve heard from prospective clients here over the years.

Many of you are in the service biz, like me.  We all get hit with questions for clients, that make us pause and say out loud:  “Oh No, You Just Didn’t Ask Me That?”.

I’ve been in the dog biz for over 10 years and before that I was a sales rep for various telecom companies. I thought that I had heard them all.  Wrong!  People say the funniest things.

Here are some of the doozies I’ve been asked over the years. My reponses are true. Some of them I’ve said out loud and some I’ve said with my inner voice.

Ready? Ok buckle up. All names have been changed to protect the innocent.  ME.

Q:  I am looking for a daycare facility for my dog Fido. Fido, is a rescue and hates other dogs. Can you just watch Fido without any other dogs? Alone? One on One?

My Thought Bubble: Hmmmmm. You know we’re a doggy daycare right? And you know doggy daycare stands for dogs at daycare, right?

#2

Q: I have a dog tha’s a tad bit aggressive. He bites, but he might not bite you.

My Thought Bubble: Fabulous, just what we need here, a biting dog. No thanks, we aren’t for you!

#3

Q: A charming woman came in for our meet and greet with her dog. She sat down on our couch and got comfortable then asked me this question. “I’m a little nervous.” I had no idea where her question was going. She finally asked me: ”If there should be a nuclear blast, how would you take care of my dog?”

My Thought Bubble: Lady, if that happens, we won’t be handling your dog or any dog here. Get the picture!

Q:  Will you watch my little Fifi, she’s 6 months old and she just started her period?

My Thought Bubble: Thank you for sharing that joyous news with me.  NO!   We wish you the best of luck in finding a daycare that can assist your needs. “Oh Brother”, (said under my breathe).

Q:  Is it going to be an issue if my dog pees and poops in your home? We just can’t seem to get her to do her business outside.

My Thought Bubble: AH, YEAH! That’s a deal breaker for us.” Really? Oh No, You Just Didn’t Ask Me That? You let your dog poop in YOUR house, ewwwwww?”

I had to share just a few of the most unusual questions I get here.

If you are in the service business, a mom dealing with school activities, a girl-scout, personal trainer or personal assistant, mechanic, teacher, you have all dealt with the: “Oh No You Just Didn’t Ask Me That?”

Send me some of your most unusual questions you get!

I work as an interpreter and translator, in Spanish primarily – I have had a LEAST five people ask me (since I hang around with Latinos) “You don’t belong to a GANG, do you?” (I just have to shake my head)

Love it! My favorite is when people ask me if my pug is a “miniature Pit Bull”. Yep! That’s Shirley!
